Visitors in Turkana!

Mountain Christian Church in Maryland and Familia de Fe Church in Brazil sent a short term mission team to Turkana from June 29 – July 6! There was a week of Vacation Bible School from places “Around the World” with 4 classrooms decorated as Brazil, China, Great Britain, and the United States, all sharing the light of Jesus! The games area was a special treat for all to watch and to participate in.

Den and Ren, and the Turkana children and the Turkana parents and the Turkana church leaders and our Turkana friends were so BLESSED!!! We were all loved by the embrace of Jesus through our visiting friends. Praise God, we thank Him for knowing our needs, hearing our prayers and answering through Mountain at this time.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12

Even The Great Wall of China can not separate us from the love of Jesus!

Brazilians aren’t chicken to share the Word of God!
We spent our July 4th with Uncle Sam!

We spent the last week of July with a visiting team from Eastside Christian Church in California. These incredible folks blessed the village of Napuu with home visits that brought food, solar lights and the light of Christ!  The remote village of Kangagetei was also blessed with a new water system! The Kangagatei community, Eastside team, teachers, children, Missions of Hope staff,  and everyone involved worked hard and joyfully together.

They made such a great difference in such a short time!

From young to old, everyone worked together to bring water to the village.

March through July Wrap Up!

We have learned so much in our 5 months of living in the remote village of Napusimoru! As our time learning language has come to a close, we wish that we could report to you that we have mastered all we will ever need to know about the culture and language of our Turkana friends, but we know that it will be a life long assignment!  It is easier for us to list some of the things we have done: built strong relationships, helped with youth group, shared gardening methods, studied two languages, pumped water, lived without plumbing or a refrigerator, etc. It is much harder to express all of the treasures that we are learning from God, our Turkana friends, and our team. Just one of those lessons is that God really is trustworthy. We don’t have to understand everything, to have it all figured out. He’s got this. Trust Him and cling tightly to Him, ‘cause the ride gets bumpy sometimes but He knows where we are going better than we do.

What’s Next for the Currans?

We so appreciate being able to be part of the Kingdom work in Kenya. We are truly privileged to be able to work here and share our lives and work with supporters, friends, family and all of the new people that cross our path.  People sometimes ask us what we want or need. Financial support is welcome and appreciated; click here if you are interested in partnering with us in that way.  We are always grateful for the encouragement, comments and questions we receive through the blog.   To send us a private email message, just click on the prayer request link above.  We love to hear from you and to learn what you are most interested in hearing about.

Starting in August we will be spending the next few months with CMF Missions of Hope in Nairobi to learn more about their excellent work with child-sponsorship and how that concept may be able to help the remote villages in Turkana. Our BIGGEST prayer request at this time is for God to unfold His plan for the Turkana children in the remote villages. There are incredible ministry opportunities in the remote areas of Kenya and we can’t wait to see what God has planned for them and for us!

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord…” – Jeremiah 29

Thank you for continuing to remember us in your prayers, as we also remember you and are thankful to God for you.

God Bless,
Dennis and Renda
